Day in the Life

My favourite way to capture someone through an image is to shoot them when they are their most authentic. Rather than instructing a model on what they must do or how they have to pose, the candid image inspires me. Following a subject and photographing them throughout their day is a rather raw experience, and proves that it does not take the most exciting life to evoke emotion. People can make judgements, but they never see the “full picture.” The intimate and almost secret experience of photographing a subject's day allows me to capture human emotion in its most raw state. By observing a subject through a lens, one can soon realize that the most mundane actions create beauty and even the trivial moments can be extraordinary. Hannah has recently taken a year off to find herself. Figuring out what makes her happy before she takes the leap back into an undergraduate degree has not been the easiest root to take. After having a rough few years at University, she knew she needed to search for “Hannah” again. This decision still constantly challenges her. Now Hannah often finds herself in the same routine, day in and day out. Between working full time, re-applying to schools, and putting in the work to overcome mental health issues, there is a pursuit for something better. Struggling to find the silver lining somedays, she is resilient nevertheless. Following Hannah as she faces the world one can learn that even the simplest of days can take a toll on even the strongest of people, or as she says “the small but mighty.” This is a Day in the Life.
